McCarthy partnered with Google on the progressive design-build delivery of the YouTube Campus Expansion in San Bruno, CA—an all-electric, LEED v4 Platinum-certified campus designed for Climate Positive impact. Set within a topographically rich landscape, the project features two mass timber office buildings and a Central Utility Plant, with carbon-optimized facades and interiors. 

Amenities promote employee wellness and creativity, including cafes, quiet rooms, fitness studios, and outdoor spaces. Sustainable strategies include a 391,000-gallon rainwater cistern, rooftop solar, a 5.3 MWh battery-backed microgrid, and recycled site furnishings from eucalyptus trees. The use of low-carbon materials and mass timber is estimated to reduce embodied carbon by nearly 22,000 metric tons CO₂e.
